PAGE 2 <br />LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD NOVEMBER 19, 1997, MINUTES <br />Catharine Browning advised the FOL spring benefit luncheon April 27 will feature Jane Lister in <br />a program titled "The Belle of Amhurst ". The Friends received a sub -grant from the Paris Area <br />Arts Alliance to bring in this talented performer and area students will be invited to attend. <br />Ms. Lewis advised that the Senior Outreach Service Program serves seven nursing homes and <br />retirement centers with depository collections on a three -week rotating schedule. She proposed <br />creating a mini library at each site by using book trucks that would be allocated to the site as long <br />as library materials are being provided there. Upon motion by Jackie Alsobrook, second by John <br />Howison, it was unanimously approved to purchase seven book trucks at a total cost of <br />$1,011.21, which included free shipping, and the money to be taken from the Board's Money <br />Market Account. <br />Ms. Lewis presented information about the need for the in -house repair of books to avoid <br />replacing titles which just need spine reinforcements. After discussion about the merits of the <br />Gaylord Binding System, upon motion by Keitt Wood, second by Frances Ellis, it was <br />unanimously approved to purchase the System for $695 plus shipping and the money to be taken <br />from the Board's Money Market Account. <br />Chairman Wood invited the Board to her home for the Christmas meeting on Wednesday, <br />December 17. Members will meet at the Library at 3:30 PM and ride together in the Mobile <br />Library. <br />The meeting adjourned at 5:05 PM. <br />Frances A. Ellis Date Approved <br />
