Library Advisory Board <br />April 17, 2002 <br />Page 2 <br />become a new member of the City Council. It was suggested that her <br />replacement on the board be Joyce Kennemer. Betty told newer board <br />members to go by the City Hall Annex and get sworn in by Mattie <br />Cunningham. <br />In unfinished business, Callie Thompson stated that April Inmon of PISD <br />was interested in bringing an author to the Paris area and might be able to <br />help with a portion of the finances. <br />Friends of the Library President, Callie Thompson, reported that the <br />luncheon is May 6 at the Paris Golf and Country Club. Jimmie Kennedy <br />will be the speaker. Tote bags been ordered in four colors. Emily <br />Kirkman, Children's librarian, is needing a stage for her marionette <br />puppets and the Friends of the Library have found someone to build it. <br />Betty Landon, Director, handed out a publication that she has subscribed <br />to called, Book Page. It contains articles and reviews about books and <br />other media. It is available for library patrons and has already become a <br />popular item at the Library. Her budget for 2002/03 is due May 17th. She <br />has added the following items: 2 additional phone lines, a wireless network <br />for computers, 2 additional public computers, shelving, a new automation <br />system, track lighting for the exhibit area and Mite Lite tables, which can <br />be folded up and stored, for the Gallery area. She stated that a luncheon <br />for Volunteers will be held on Wednesday, April 24th from 11:30 -1:30. In <br />the near future, a list of memorials each month will be placed on the <br />Library web page. The web address is http: / /www.paristexas.com. The <br />library has been presenting programs at various clubs and organizations. <br />The meeting adjourned at 4:50 pm.
