Library Advisory Board <br />December 18, 2002 <br />Page 2 <br />Callie Thompson, Friends President, reported that a "Save -a -date <br />reminder" will be going out soon for the Spring Lunch: this year's will <br />take place on Tuesday, May 6th. <br />In the Director's Report, Betty discussed attending the System Meeting to <br />Dec. 91h in Garland. No lay representative was able to attend this time. The <br />Mity -lite tables are being ordered; they will cost $1567 and the Friends are <br />paying for them. Betty attended a luncheon hosted by Head Start; <br />attendees were the various agencies which are collaborators with Head <br />Start. The Newcomers Club gave the library a donation of $500 for <br />whatever we need. The library has a new "Green Thumb" worker, <br />Ernestine Walston. Her primary job is to clean videos and do book and <br />video repair. <br />Loan Star Libraries, the direct aid program of the State Library, will give <br />the library $5862 this year. The money will be used to upgrade and replace <br />staff computer equipment, purchase dvds and pay for Priscilla McAnally's <br />attendance at the Tall Texans Leadership Training Conference. This grant <br />must be accepted by the City Council in January before we will receive a <br />check. <br />The meeting was adjourned at 4:50 p.m. <br />The next meeting will be held January 15, 2003 in the Gallery at 4 p.m. <br />fi n <br />Nancee Salzman <br />Date Approved <br />
