Library Advisory Board <br />February 18, 2004 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY <br />ADVISORY BOARD <br />February 18, 2004 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session <br />Wednesday, February 18, 2004, at 4:OOPM in the Library with Chairman <br />Nancee Salzman presiding. The following Board members were present: <br />Jackie Alsobrook, Deborah Hatley, Sarah Gambill, Peggy Guthrie, Bill <br />Kennedy, Carl Lucas, Nancee Salzman, and Walter Williams. Also <br />attending was Betty Landon, Library Director. Anna Davis, and Callie <br />Thompson, Friends' President, did not attend. <br />The minutes from the January meeting were approved. <br />Under new business, the new board members were introduced and each <br />told the board something about themselves. <br />The budget report was favorable. <br />January circulation statistics were down about 3.5% from last January. <br />Children's programming had 6 programs with 118 children and 53 adults <br />attending. These programs included a Leap Year Party. In Children's <br />Outreach, 12 programs were held with 177 children attending and 37 <br />adults. <br />In adult outreach, there were 2 programs which 26 people attended. There <br />were 31 interlibrary loans. We had 28 memorials given for a total of $450. <br />Jackie Alsobrook made a motion that the Board pass a Resolution of <br />sympathy for the Robert Pierson family because he was a board member <br />and chairman of the board of the Library in the past. Peggy Guthrie <br />seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. <br />In the Director's Report, Betty informed the members that the sign which <br />they recommended for the Information Desk is now in place and has been a <br />big help in directing people for reference assistance. Betty attended a <br />NETLS Joint Committee Meeting on February 5 in Garland to participate <br />
