Library Advisory Board <br />February 19, 2003 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY <br />ADVISORY BOARD <br />February 19, 2003 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session <br />Wednesday, February 19, 2003, at 4:OOPM in the Library with Chairman <br />Nancee Salzman presiding. All of the Library Board members were <br />present, including: Anna Davis, Sarah Gambill, Peggy Guthrie, Vicki <br />Terlap, John Howison, Joyce Kennemer, Nancee Salzman, Kevin Gray and <br />Walter Williams. Also attending were Betty Landon, Library Director and <br />Callie Thompson, Friends President. <br />The minutes from January's meeting were approved. <br />Betty presented board members January's budget report. Everything is in <br />order with spending thus far this year with book money a little ahead of <br />schedule. <br />January stats included a report of 39 memorials totaling $805. The <br />Children's Department report included several successful programs in <br />January. They presented 18 school programs to 294 children and 52 <br />adults. In addition, there were seven programs in the library for 71 <br />children and 60 adults. Three young volunteers spent 9 hours and 45 <br />minutes in the children's department. There will be a Dinosaur Program <br />on Thursday, February 28th. Both Emily and Linda attended a workshop <br />on summer reading programs. Ron fixed Billy Book! <br />In adult programming, there were 3 programs which 57 people attended. <br />There were 54 interlibrary loans. <br />Ron Hervey, library employee, was introduced to the board. Ron is in <br />charge of electronic media, including all things relating to computers and <br />the internet. He has worked at the library for five years, since the internet <br />was brought to the library. Ron helps patrons and staff with all types of <br />computer questions, including how to log on, search, use Microsoft Word <br />and Excel programs. Ron designs and maintains the library's web page <br />
