Library Advisory Board
June 18, 2003
MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY
ADVISORY BOARD
June 18, 2003
The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session
Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at 4:OOPM in the Library with Vice - Chairman
John Howison presiding. The following Board members were present:
Anna Davis, Peggy Guthrie, John Howison, Joyce Kennemer, and Walter
Williams. Also attending was Betty Landon, Library Director. Sarah
Gambill, Kevin Gray, Nancee Salzman, and Vicki Terlap did not attend.
The minutes from April's meeting were approved. There was no quorum
for the May meeting and thus, no minutes.
Tammy Strickland was introduced from the staff. Tammy told board
members what her responsibilities were. She works at the circulation desk
and shelves in the adult fiction area. Several board members commended
Tammy for her friendliness and good rapport with the public.
The budget report was reviewed. There was some discussion of the
upcoming budget. May statistics did show some downward numbers,
especially in the area of video circulation. The library has new limits on
the number of videos a family may borrow and this has impacted statistics.
The Children's Department had fourteen programs with 165 children and
123 adults in attendence. This included visits from two Head Start groups,
from Detroit and Clarksville. In adult outreach, there were 2 programs in
which 38 attended. Rebecca left materials including books, audio, and
magazines this month. We had 43 interlibrary transactions during May
and 14 memorial donations, totaling $260.
Returning board members are Sarah Gambill and Joyce Kennemer; Jackie
Alsobrook will replace John Howison on the board; these changes are
effective July 1.
