Paris Public Library Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />November 28, 2012 <br />Opening: <br />The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order at <br />4:00 p.m. November 28, 2012, in the Library Gallery by Linda Vandiver, Library <br />Chairperson. <br />Present: <br />Pat Books, Deborah Hatley, Fran Neeley, Linda Vandiver, and Library Director Priscilla <br />McAnally. <br />Approval of Minutes <br />The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as <br />distributed <br />II. New Business <br />A. Director, Priscilla McAnally, presented an overview of online usage of <br />Paris Public Library's webpage with focus on portions of the E- Resources <br />section available to patrons. <br />Freading offers downloadable a -Books that may be downloaded to a PC, <br />Mac, etc. computer. The e -books may be transferred to Nook, Sony <br />Reader, Kindle Fire, and other devices, but are not available on earlier <br />Kindle devices. <br />NewsBank offers access to articles from local, state, regional, national, <br />and international historical newspapers and other news sources. <br />Freegal Music Service provides access to music from Sony Music's <br />catalog. Registered patrons of the library may download 3 songs a week <br />in the MP3 format. <br />Zinio offers full digital copies of magazines and may be read on a PC, <br />laptop, iPhone, iPad, Kindle Fire, Blackberry Playbook and others. <br />Universal Class offers over 500 online non- college credit Continuing <br />Education Courses. Patrons may enroll in up to five courses with six <br />months to complete each course. Each course offers real instructors who <br />may choose to communicate with participants via email. <br />One Click Digital offers downloadable audio books and offers thousands <br />of books. <br />
