PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD <br />July 18, 2001 <br />MINT OF S <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday, June 20, <br />2001, at 4 PM in the Library with Chairman Jackie Alsobrook presiding and these <br />members present:, John Howison, Anna Davis, Nancee Salzman, and Rogene <br />Patterson. Absent were Sarah Gambill, Fran Neeley, Walter Williams and Curtis <br />Fendley. Callie Thompson, Friends President and Priscilla McAnally, Assistant <br />Library Director, were also present. <br />The June 20, 2001, Minutes were approved as distributed. <br />The Budget Report was distributed and is on target with budget expenditures. It was <br />noted that utilities was the only targeted worry. <br />The Statistical Report was distributed. It showed in June there was an decrease in <br />circulation of 1.1% over the same month last year. The library showed a 33.2 percent <br />increase in reference assistance, and again the largest increase in Electronic Reference <br />Assistance with 417 percent. Also there was a decrease in patron visits of 2.1 percent <br />from the same month last year. <br />Mobile Library Summer Program in June gave 36 programs with a total attendence of <br />319. It was noted that the Boys' and Girls' Club is the site with the largest attendence. <br />Emily Kirkman, Children's Librarian, gave the her report to Board concerning the <br />Summer Reading Club. Programs are given on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to kids in <br />grades 1 to 6; and on Thursdays, a program is presented to kids ages 3, 4 and 5. The <br />programs include a story and crafts; games and prizes are awarded to all the participants. <br />The program had an average of 32 kids per program during the 12 programs given in <br />June. <br />Memorial donations were up in June to 34 from 20 the previous month. <br />In New Business, the Nominating of Officers Committee will meet after today's (July <br />18) Board meeting to present a new slate of officers at the next meeting. Jackie <br />Alsobrook, John Howison and Rogene Patterson are the members of the committee. <br />
