PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD <br />MARCH 21, 2001 <br />MINUTES <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday, March 21, <br />2001, at 4 PM in the Library with Chairman Jackie Alsobrook presiding and these <br />members present: Sarah Gambill, John Howison, Fran Neeley, Rogene Patterson, <br />Nancee Salzman, and Walter Williams. Absent was Curtis Fendley. Jimmye Hancock, <br />Friends President was excused. Priscilla McAnally, Assistant Library Director, was also <br />present. <br />The February 7, 2001, Minutes were approved as distributed. <br />The Budget Report was distributed and expenditures are on target. <br />The Statistical Report was distributed that showed in February, there was a slight <br />decrease of 4.1 % in circulation from the same month last year. The library showed is <br />largest increase in Electronic Reference Assistance. <br />Upon motion by Sarah Gambill and second by John Howison the Board unanimously <br />approved a recommendation be sent to the City Manager that Priscilla McAnally be <br />compensated for assuming additional responsibilities during the period when there is no <br />active library director. Also upon motion by Fran Neeley and second by Nancee Salzman <br />the board unanimously approved a recommendation be sent to the City Manager that the <br />minimum qualifications for the Library Director be changed to 8 plus years of <br />experience in library management or administration. <br />The preschool outreach service delivered materials and programs to 15 locations with a <br />total of 227 children and 45 adults in attendence; and a circulation of 436 items. <br />The adult outreach service reached 17 group locations and 9 homebound patrons with 1, <br />146 books, 378 audio books, and 385 videos circulated in February. <br />The new Collection Protection System is in place and working. <br />Marne Rogers from Gaylord advised that the Alpha server for the Galaxy system and <br />Dial -in Access is in staging. Also when the server is ready Gaylord will send, at their <br />expense, a technician to do the installation. <br />No Frien report was given, and it was noted that the spring benefit luncheon will be <br />Mays . �- <br />
