PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD <br />APRIL 18, 2001 <br />MINT UPS <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday, March 21, <br />2001, at 4 PM in the Library with Chairman Jackie Alsobrook presiding and these <br />members present: Sarah Gambill, John Howison, Fran Neeley, Rogene Patterson, <br />Nancee Salzman, and Curtis Fendley. Absent was Walter Williams. Jimmye Hancock, <br />Friends President and Priscilla McAnally, Assistant Library Director, were also present. <br />The March 21, 2001, Minutes were approved as distributed until it was realized that the <br />Friends' luncheon date was wrong. It was changed and initialed by Secretary Rogene <br />Patterson. <br />The Budget Report was distributed and it was brought up by Fran Neeley that we need to <br />stay on target with budget expenditures <br />The Statistical Report was distributed that showed in March, there was a slight increase <br />of 2% in circulation from the same month last year. The library again showed it largest <br />increase in Electronic Reference Assistance. <br />In Children's Services there were 11 programs with 185 children and 85 adults in <br />attendance. The Preschool Outreach had 17 programs with 287 children and 51 adults, <br />and 431 items were distributed at the sites. <br />The Adult Outreach service visited 18 sites, distributed 1,151 books, 310 audio books, <br />384 videos, and 36 magazines. <br />In other statistics, there were 49 interlibrary loans in March; and 35 memorial /gift <br />contributions for a total of $678. <br />In other business, the library still needs volunteers. We were asked to tell our clubs and <br />organizations about the need for volunteers. <br />In Unfinished Business, a Gaylord Information Systems technician will be in the Library <br />on April 30 and May 1 to install the new Alpha server, other hardware and software for <br />the Dial -in Access. The City Manager has been asked if the library can open to the <br />public at 1 p.m. instead of the normal 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, due to the installation. <br />It was advised the after a visit with City Attorney Larry Schenk that Rogene Patterson <br />and Jackie Alsobrook may remain on the Advisory Board until a new Library Director is <br />found. It was so moved by the Board that they remain until such time. <br />
