3. Continued discussion of and possible action on recommending provisions regulating the
storage and placement of recreational vehicles.
Chairman Wilson referred the Committee to draft two of the travel trailer ordinance and
reviewed the proposed changes as requested by the Committee. There was discussion about
whether or not the exemption would stay with the special vehicle or with the property where the
special vehicle was located. It was a consensus of the Committee to make the following
changes:
In General.
2) was moved to the "exceptions" section since it will apply only to grandfathered
vehicles and expanded in that section to include "or if no curb line exists, 11 feet
from the existing roadway."
3) 14 maximum days per calendar year was added.
9) the words "within any portion of the side yard or rear yard which is" were deleted.
Exceptions.
(a) the words "item 1 " (from the "In General" section) are to be inserted between the
words "the" and "Chief."
(b) this section was added and shall read: this exception shall apply only to the
registered vehicle registered at that specific location.
Registration of Special Vehicles.
2) the words "from item 1 " (from the "In General" section) are to be inserted
between the words "exempt" and "from."
Chairman Wilson asked Lisa Wright to explain the procedure for registering a special
vehicle with the City. Lisa Wright said the person who wishes to register a special vehicle
should come to her office and complete a form that will be developed. After completion of the
form, a Code Enforcement Officer will go to the location and take a photograph to document the
vehicle being grand- fathered, then the Police Chief will be forwarded the application to
determine if it meets the safety requirements. If the vehicle meets the safety requirement, it will
be registered with the City. Ms. Wright also stated there would be no registration fee.
Subject to the above changes, a Motion to accept this Ordinance was made by Pete
Kampfer and seconded by Cheryt Moore. Motion carried unanimously.
rlays 2 o 4
