MINUTES OF THE UPPER STILLHOUSE CREEK SEWER SERVICE COMMITTEE <br />April 11, 1988 <br />The Committee for the Upper Stillhouse Creek Sewer Service met, Monday, <br />April 11, 1988, 5:00 P. M., Council Room, City Hall. Chairman Curtis <br />Fendley called the meeting to order with the following member present: <br />Eric Clifford. Also present was City Manager, Michael E. Malone, City <br />Engineer, Earl Smith, Fire Chief, Steve Burgin, and City Clerk, Mattie <br />Cunningham. <br />Chairman Fendley announced that the first item on the agenda was <br />discussion and recommendation on Ralph Taylor's request for City of <br />Paris to waive City Ordinance requirement on fire hydrant for a new <br />church building on Loop 286 South. <br />Steve Burgin, Fire Chief, presented pictures of the pool that Mr. <br />Taylor said could be used to draft water. Mr. Burgin said the pool was <br />approximately 60' x 100" and was 1,000 to 1,200 feet from the building <br />site, there was moss in the pool which would cause problems in <br />drafting, and possibly damage to the pumps of the fire trucks along <br />with the possibility of damage from dirt and trash getting into the <br />pumps. Mr. Burgin also stated this pool was located on black land and <br />500 feet from Mr. Taylor's property line. Burgin told the Committee <br />that he could not recommend the waiver of the requirements of the City <br />Ordinance regarding a fire Hydrant to this property. <br />Earl Smith, City Engineer, advised the Committee that the cost for <br />establishing a fire hydrant to this property would be approximately <br />$40,000. <br />After further discussion, the consensus of the Committee was not to <br />grant the variance to the City Ordinance. <br />There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. <br />CURTIS FENDLEY, CHAIRMAN <br />ATTEST: <br />MATTIE CUNNINGHAM, CITY CLERK <br />
