MINUTES OF THE UPPER STILLHOUSE CREEK SEWER SERVICE COMMITTEE
June 1, 1987
The Committee for the Upper Stillhouse Creek Sewer Service met June
1, 1987, 4:00 P. M., Conference Room, City Hall. Chairman Curtis
Fendley called the meeting to order with the following member
present: Councilman Clifford. Also present was City Manager,
Michael E. Malone, City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, Director of Finance,
W. E. Anderson, Interim City Engineer, Richard Babb, Consulting
Engineer, Brandon Chaney, and City Clerk, Mattie Cunningham.
Chairman Fendley reviewed the minutes of a previous meeting, and
advised the committee that there were people in the Council Chambers
who were interested in the proposed project. Chairman Fendley told
the committee that the meeting would adjourn and reconvene in the
Council Chambers.
Brandon Chaney, Consulting Engineer, gave a review of the proposed
project for the benefit of those in the audience. Mr. Chaney advised
that alternate No. 3 had been determined the best and most economical
for all concerned. Mr. Chaney stated that Alternative No. 3 consists
of constructing a lift station and approximately 1625 linear feet of
6" P.V.C. force main West to 34th Street N. E. Mr. Chaney advised
that this also included constructing a gravity sewer line on 34th
Street N. E.and a gravity line west from an offset in 34th Street N.
E. South of the Elks Lodge to near a tributary of Stillhouse Creek,
and also consist of constructing approximately 6330 linear feet of
gravity line to the Northwest along Stillhouse Creek across F. M.
Highway 195 to the North Interceptor. Mr. Chaney said the estimated
cost would be approximately $256,000.00.
Discussion was had with representatives from the Elks Lodge, Oak
Creek Development, and Wayne Brown regarding their participation in
the construction cost. Mr. Chaney advised the Committee that June
Reep was interested in the sewer service to her property, but he was
unable to contact her. Bob McDougal was also present and discussed
the possibility of sewer service to his property.
Discussion was had concerning a pro rata Ordinance where individual
would share in the cost of the sewer line which would help in
reducing the cost of the project. Mr. Chaney estimated the cost per
house would average between $1,500.00 to $2,000.00.
After further discussion, the Committee requested a letter from all
interested parties regarding their intent to participate towards the
project.
Chairman Fendley scheduled a meeting for June 10, 1987, 4:00 P. M.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
CURTIS FENDLEY, CHAIRMAN
