M E M O R A N D U M 12 -18 -87 TO COUNCILMEN CLIFFORD, FENDLEY & KENT FROM DICK BOOTS - DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY FACILITIES SUBJECT . LAKE CROOK HUNTING I have received input from the following concerning hunting at Lake Crook: Archers for Christ, landowners bordering Lake Crook Property, Game Wardens and the general public. After reviewing all requests and suggestions, I am making recommendations that I feel will satisfy all interested groups or individuals. Attached are two maps. One shows the existing hunting districts and regulations and the second shows the proposed hunting districts and regu- lations. District 1 - 526 Acres: Due to the close proximity of landowners to this area, I recommend District 1 be restricted to archery hunting only. District 2 & 3 - 190 Acres: I recommend that Districts 2 & 3 be set aside for archery hunting only. The private landowners are requesting no gun hunting in this area. I believe that if hunting in these two areas is restricted to archery only, the landowners will be satisfied. I further recommend that Archers for Christ lease a small section of this area for their archery range and that these two sections be open to the public for archery hunting only, not just for their club members. Districts 4 -5 -6 -7 - 729 Acres: I recommend that Districts 4 -5 -6 -7 be restricted to hunting with shotguns using shot only. No slugs shall be per- mitted. I recommend that District 7 which previously was a no hunting area, be added to the hunting with shotgun and shot only. District 8 -10 - 300 acres: I recommend that Districts 8 & 10 be restricted to no hunting areas. District 9 - 972 acres: I recommend District 9 be restricted to hunting ducks and geese in accordance with State and Federal Laws. I believe these recommendations will satisfy the majority of interested indi- viduals. Please review this information and contact me if you have any comments. I would like to put this item on the next regularly scheduled City Council Meet- ing.
