MINUTES <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />MONDAY JANUARY 27, 2014 <br />4:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />The meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chair <br />Ben Vaughan. <br />A. The following commissioners were present: Chair Ben Vaughan, Vice Chair <br />Douglas Cox, Nancy Anderson, David Stewart, Lauri Redus , and Michael <br />Glatfelter <br />B. Beatrice Ardila was absent. <br />C. Staff also present: Joey Sleeper, Historic Preservation Officer; Cheri Bedford, <br />Main Street Coordinator; and John Godwin, City Manager <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meeting. (January 8, 2014) <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Anderson and seconded by Commissioner Redus to <br />approve the minutes with amendments. The motion carried 6 -0. <br />3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificates of Appropriateness: <br />A. Sign, Repurposed Junkie, 120 Bonham St., Carolyn Drake <br />Chair Vaughan introduced the item, noting that the applicant was not present. A motion to <br />table the item was made by Commissioner Redus and seconded by Commissioner <br />Anderson. The motion carried 6 -0. <br />B. Exterior demolition, 134 SW 1St, Chris Dux <br />Chair Vaughan introduced the item and called the applicant, Chris Dux. Mr. Dux <br />explained that he recently purchased the building and intended to renovate the interior and <br />exterior for residential and commercial uses, with his personal residence located on the <br />second floor. Mr. Dux further explained that he had already demolished existing window <br />frames, window blanker panels and overhead door, and installed temporary blanker <br />panels. He also stated that he intended to demolish the existing aluminum storefront, and <br />in order to access the east facade for maintenance and repair, he would need to remove <br />and replace the canopy along the facade. Chair Vaughan asked the applicant how long the <br />temporary blanker panels would be in place. The applicant answered that he had <br />requested a facade rendering from the Texas Historical Commission and could determine <br />at that time how long the construction would take and when the blanker panels could be <br />removed. After further discussion, a motion to approve the item was made by Vice Chair <br />Cox and seconded by Commissioner Glatfelter. The motion carried 6 -0. <br />4. Discussion items: <br />
