AUGUST 11, 1981 Advisory Board of Health Meeting The Advisory Board of Health met at the Paris -Lamar County Health Department on Tuesday, August 11, 1981, with the following members present: Mr. James Deatherage, Chairman, Mrs. Ann Norment, Mrs. Frances Ellis and De. Wally Kraft. Others present were: Dr. Hillhouse and W.C. "Sonny" Pursifull, of the Health Department. Mr. Deatherage called the meeting to order about 7:40 P.M., and asked what items needed to be discussed that were in the news- letter. Dr. Hillhouse gave a report on the painter and painting of the building. He asked for the members' opinion on the news- letters and they all agreed that they were very informative. A discussion followed concerning the proposal which was received from the State. Mrs. Ellis made the motion to refuse the proposal, including local employees not being on the Merit System, that their wages should be set accordingly. Dr. Kraft seconded the motion. Motion carried. Mr. Pursifull gave a report on Mosquito Control. The CETA workers we now have will be discontinued at the end of this month, but we may get others from CETA. He also stated that we may not have enough money to continue with Mosquito Control. Mr. Deatherage suggested suggested we get the budget out and check and if there was no money left, the Board would simply go to the City and County for more money. It was reported that Mr. Turner, a County Maintenance employee, would repair our screens and ceilings. The City is to make a new sign for the outside of the building. Regarding Dr. Hillhouse's request for small equipment, the Board agreed that as long as the money was in the budget for Medical Supplies, etc, and the cost not too much, to go ahead and purchase these items, that it was not necessary to get their approval. Dr. Kraft said he would call the County Judge and discuss our fiscal year, which is now July 1 to June 30, and check about the 40% the County is supposed to pay on the budget. Dr. Kraft also suggested we go to Texas Surplus Properties in Longview for items such as desks, chairs and even a jeep, which is badly needed. Mr. Pursifull said he would check into this.
