MAY 29, 1980 ADVISORY BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING The Advisory Board of Health met at the Paris -Lamar County Health Department Building, Thursday, May 29, 1980, at 6:30 PM, with the following member ;present: Mrs. Ann Norment, Mr. James Deatherage, Dr. William Hayden, and Dr. Wallace Kraft. Invited guests also present were: W.C. Pursifull, Sanitarian, Mrs. Laura Main, R.N., and Dr. Joe F. Hillhouse, Acting Director of the Paris -Lamar County Health Department. The Board Members not present were: Dr. C. D. McMillan, Dr. John Barnett, Dr. W. L. Kelley, and Mrs. Frances Ellis, (who phoned Dr. Hillhouse and gave her affirmative vote on the promotion of the clerk, to be cast by proxy). The Chairman, James Deatherage, opened the meeting for business. The minutes of the last meeting were not read, as they were of no interest to this meeting. Dr. Hillhouse had sent a letter to the Board Members listing some situations he wished to be discussed; the first being a promotion to Clerk II for Jean Ann Burton, with a subsequent increase in salary, to be effective July 1, 1980. Mr. Deatherage suggested this be voted upon. A motion was made by Dr. Hayden in favor of this and a second was made by Mrs.Ann Norment. The vote was unanimous by the memberspresent and one vote by proxy; making a total of four affirmative votes. A discussion followed concerning the letter received from Austin stating the possible deletion of funds T A(d) from the Federal Government, which support Local Health Departments. Suggestions were made as to the alternatives possible in keeping the Health Department from being closed. Also, There was a discussion concerning the problems surrounding Mosquito Control. The need for new equipment, supplies, etc., and the lack of funds and personnel for adequate service to this community. Dr. Hayden suggested alerting the people of Paris of these problemt.- and of their responsibilities to the Health Dept. and their community.
