MINUTES OF MEETING PARIS-LAMAR COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH The Paris-Lamar County Board of Health held its regular meeting on Wednesday, June 14, 1995, at the Holiday Inn in Paris. Board members present included Dr. Bert Strom, Dr. Robert Moseley, Dr. David Brock, Mrs. Ann Norment, and Mrs. Frances Ellis. Others in attendance included Mr. Mike Malone, Mr. T.K. Haynes, Mr, Troy Owens, Mrs. Latricia Miller, Mr. Anthony Bethel, Mr. Bob Ricks, Mrs. Barbra Frances, Mrs. Evelyn Freeman, Mr. Ron Ragan, and Mrs, Betsy Chapman. The meeting was called to order at 7:18 am, and Dr. Strom made a motion that was seconded by Mrs. Ellis that the minutes from the previous meeting be approved as submitted. The motion carried. Under discussion of the Intermediate Care position at the Health Department, Anthony advised the Board that he had been in contact with a P.A. and a F.N.P. about the position at the Health Department. The F.N.P. did not get back with Anthony, but the P.A. expressed interest in the position. Anthony passed out a list of requirements submitted by P.A. John Johnson in regards to his accepting the position. A committee including Dr. Strom, Mr. Bethel, Mr. Haynes, Mr. Owens, and Mr. Ragan was appointed to meet and discuss an incentive package to offer to Mr. Johnson if he is interested in the position. Evelyn Freeman stated that the March of Dimes grant currently being received might not cover services by a P.A., and that she would check in to that, Dr. Strom stated that the Board needs to set priorities for the Department. If pre-natal care is our main priority, then he does not feel that a P.A. would be the best person for the position. If the Health Department was trying to expand the patient load and see more patients, then a P.A. might be the person for the job. Ron Ragan inquired as to whether or not the Board had considered using a professional recruiting service to locate the best qualified person for the position. Also, Mr. Ragan informed the Board that Terri Yeakley had stated that she would be interested in filling in part-time at the Health Department if she was needed. Dr. Strom added that the Internal Medicine Group would serve as.Medical Director.if needed, and would be willing to spend four hours every Thursday at the Health Department reviewing records.
