MINUTES <br />BOARD yr Ai ,,l uSTMENT <br />WEDNESDAY, NOJBmTER 30, 1977 <br />5:15 O'CLOCK P. M. <br />COUNCIL ROOM - CITY HALL <br />PARTS, TEXAS <br />The Board of Adjustment of the City of --is, Texas met in a called meeting, <br />Wednesday, November 30, 1977 with the r— lowirig members present: <br />1. F. D. Mallory, III - Chairman 3. John Williams, Jr. <br />2. Dr. James Moore 4. Charlie Walker <br />Chairman Mallory called the meeting to order and recognized John Williams, Jr. <br />as a new alternate Member of the Board and expressed appreciation for his <br />willingness to serve. <br />The Board took up the petition of Murill Allen for a variance to Section 9- 701(1) <br />of the Zoning Ordinance on Lot 3, City Block 30, located at 140 8th N.E. <br />Mr. Allen stated his need to construct a carport behind his house and explained <br />that due to the size of his lot and the location of existing trees, he could <br />not maintain the 10 foot setback .requirement from the rear property line. <br />The Board reviewed the sketch of the proposed carport and discussed the existing <br />non - conforming garages and storage buildings in the neighborhood. <br />Following discussion, Mr. Walker made a motion to allow a 3 foot rear set back <br />for the carport which would be in keeping with other such buildings in the <br />neighborhood. <br />Mr. Williams seconded the motion which carried unanimously. <br />The next item was the petition of Glenn Smallwood for a variances to Section <br />9- 300(2) of the Zoning Ordinance on Lot 1, City Block 222 -A located on the <br />east side of 21st N.E. between Lamar Avenue and Price Street. <br />Mr. Smallwood explained his proposal to construct a 7 or 8 unit apartment <br />development designed for elderly people on this Commercially zoned property <br />which was 83.5 feet deep instead of the required 100 feet for residential use. <br />It was pointed out that all other zoning requirements could be met on this <br />lot. <br />
