October 13, 1975
MEMORANDUM
TO : BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
FROM : DIRECTOR OF CONMWITY DEVELOPMENT
SUBJECT: AGENDA ITEMS FOR OCTOBER 161_1975
1. Mrs. F. Andrew Fasken: The applicant proposes to construct a 121 wide
circular drive In front of her residence along with doing some landscaping.
As part of the proposal, she requested a Building Permit to construct a
15` x 24' wood frame "arbor" over the new drive at the front door of the
residence.
Considering the "arbor" a structure, the permit was denied because it would
be set back 12 feet from the front property line instead of the required 25
feet.
The arbor would be similar to.an open carport except that it would not have
a solid roof.
A sketch is not included with your agenda, as Mrs. Fasken has a large scale
drawing of the proposal which will be submitted at the meeting.
2. Amendment to Bylaws: As you are probably aware, we do not notify
adjacent property owwners of matters appearing before the Board of Adjustment.
A Legal Notice is published in the paper and a Public Notice is posted at
City mall to inform people of Board of Adjustment matters.
It has been suggested by the City Manager that the Board consider amending
the Bylaws to require that property owners within 200 feet of the tract of
land involved in an appeal to the Board of Adjustment be notified by mail of
the time and place of hearings.
Thank yore.
J b N.
