The public hearing was declared open. <br />Motion was made to remove item from table. Motion made by Joe McCarthy and <br />seconded by Bobby L. Myers. Motion carried by a vote of 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Mr. Ellis, 10 8th S.E., attorney representing Mr. Weiberg, spoke in favor of the <br />petition. Materials were handed out to support request. Request was for zoning <br />to be changed to Neighborhood Service. Mr. Ellis state that most property along <br />Clarksville Street in this area is Commercial already. A site plan was submitted <br />showing improvements proposed. Commercial zoning along Clarksville Street will <br />be strongly considered in the new Master Plan. <br />Renee Harvey of Century 21 has had several people ask about rezoning to <br />Commercial along Clarksville Street. <br />A letter was presented from Ms. Motiff opposing the petition. <br />Katherine Carrington, who lives immediately west of the property, opposed the <br />petition stating that she has improved her property. She has a very narrow drive <br />and thinks the building is too close to her. Appraisers advised her that rezoning <br />would devalue her property by $20,000 to $30,000. <br />J. D. McLaughlin, owns across the street in the neighborhood, states that the <br />neighborhood is well kept and he opposes General Retail zoning but supports <br />Neighborhood Service. He prefers zoning to remain as it is. <br />Connie Chamberlain, 670 22nd S.E., directly North of the property states that she <br />would rather not see a retail store here. She is not happy with setbacks proposed. <br />Richard Grimes, 670 22nd S.E., thinks General Retail zoning will devalue <br />property. <br />There was no further opposition, the public hearing was declared closed. <br />5. Consideration of and action on the petition of Doug Weiberg for a change in <br />zoning from a Two - Family Dwelling District (2F) to a General Retail District <br />(GR), Lot 3, City Block 226 -A, being number 2157 Clarksville Street. <br />Motion was made to deny by Joe McCarthy and seconded by Mike Dangerfield. <br />Motion carried by a vote of 8 ayes and 1 nay. <br />6. Public Hearing to consider the petition of Brenda Savage for a change in <br />zoning from a One - Family Dwelling District No. 2 (SF -2) to a Multiple - <br />Family Dwelling District No. 1 (MF -1), Lot 10, City Block 204, being number <br />2249 Bonham Street. <br />
