ayor Burn ett called the Council's attention to a memorandum from Dick Boots, Director of Facilities, regarding purchase of a rotating beacon for Cox Field Airport. Mr. Boots's memorandum states that Gifford's Electric of Fort Worth, Texas is the only company that the City is 8 `" aware of in Texas who can exchange our present beacon for a more modern rebuilt rotating beacon. The Texas Aeronautics Commission does not mandate that bids be taken if the cost is less than $5,000.00, and Mr. Boots recommends that the bid process be dropped for the purchase of this item. The Texas Aeronautics Commission will pay 69% of the total cost, and 31% will be paid by the City of Paris. A motion was made by Councilman Clifford, seconded by Councilman Kent to accept the recommendation of the Director of Facilities to drop the bid process for the purchase of a modern rebuilt rotating beacon for the Airport. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. Councilman Fendley, Chairman of the Committee for the Upper Stillhouse Creek Sewer Service Project, reported that the Committee had met several times with Brandon Chaney, Consultant Engineer for the Project, representatives from the Elks Lodge, Oak Creek Development Company, and Wayne Brown. Councilman Fendley told the Council that Mr. Chaney had recommended Item No. 3 of his proposal, and the Committee had accepted alternate number 3 as the best and most economical. Responses were received from the Elks Lodge stating their willingness to pledge $17,000.00, and the Oak Creek Development Company pledge $20,000.00 along with approximately 15 property own who would be able to connect to the sewer system. Councilman Fendley stated that there was no response from Wayne Brown, and without his participation, the lift station would not be necessary which would make the estimated cost of the project $227,000.00. Mayor Burnett announced that the Council would go into executive session, and declared the regular session closed and the executive session open. Legal matters were discussed with the City Attorney.
