The Site is approximately three hundred (300') feet
r from the nearest house and over one thousand (1,000') feet from the
next closest dwelling. Alternate location - Site No. 2 could save
$1,000.00 on site preparation, but has excessive traffic.
** Wallace and Tiernam equipment was selected because City personnel have
experienced few problems in operation and maintenance with similar units.
Rotometers were sized for future use at the two (2) utility plants. Two
(2) chlorinators were recommended since a breakdown could cause usage
of HTH at a higher cost than the purchase of a second unit. In addi-
tion, maintenance of a chlorine dosage large enough to keep downstream
complaints to a minimum is probably a major factor in determining
whether the City may be required to take far more expensive measures.
Since chlorine is such a hazardous material, it is believed the inclu-
sion of a detector with an alarm for safety of the general public, a
gas mask for on site personnel, and a cylinder repair kit for emergencies
are needed for emergencies.
* ** It is possible to borrow a breathing apparatus from the Fire Department.
However, since there are currently no breathing units at the Pat Mayse
Raw Water Pump Station or at the Maxey Water Treatment Plant; it is
recommended that an additional mask be purchased at this time, and it
can eventually be used at one of these two (2) facilities.
ktW t$.
a
5 t
IF.
