RESOLUTION NO, 2165 WHEREAS, the Public Act of 1965, being Public vides funding for Special ment Assistance; and, WHEREAS, the City of April, 1982 suffer damage and, corks and Economic Development Law No. 89 -136 as amended, pro - Economic Development and Adjust - Paris did on the 2nd day of and destruction from a tornado; WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, deems it to be in the best interest of the City of Paris to seek assistance under such Act by processing a grant application for professional assistance to help over- come the socio-economic devastation suffered by the City on April 2, 1982; and, WHEREAS, an application for such grant in the amount of $95,000.00, being 100% federal funding, should be made; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: 1. That an application be made to U. S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration, Southwest Regional Office, Austin, Texas 78701 for a grant in the amount of $95,000.00, being 100% of the federal cost of professional assistance to help overcome the socio- economic devastation suffered by the City of Paris on April 2, 1982. 2. That Robert W, Sokoll, City Manager of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and he is hereby designated Certifying Representative and is hereby authorized and di- rected on behalf of the City of Paris to execute and trans- mit the application in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A. 3. That Joe McCollum, Director of Community Development of the City of Paris, be, and he is hereby designated Contact Person to execute and deliver all other communications, in- struments and documents necessary for the completion, of said project.
