MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL MAY 26, 1982 -4BL+ The special meeting of the City Council of the City of Paris was held, Wednesday, May 26, 1982, 6:00 P. M. Mayor Graham called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen present: Donald G. Wilson, Gene McWaters, Jr., Walter F. Williams, George Fisher, Jr. W. C. Francis, and Larry McGee. Also present were City Manager R. W. Sokoll, City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, H. C. Greene. Mr. Jeff Methven Chairman of the Vistors and Convention Council of the Chamber of Commerce appeared before the Council and gave a report of the activities of the Council. Mr. Methven requested the City Council to increase the Hotel -Motel Tax from 3% to 4% effective July 1, 1982. After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman McGee, seconded by Councilman McWaters authorizing the City Attorney to prepare an Ordinance increasing the Hotel -Motel Tax to 4 %. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. Mayor Graham called for tablulation of bids for a pickup, and the following bids were presented: David Glass Motor Company, Inc. $7,118.64 Lowry Chevrolet Inc. $7,124.00 Kosterman Motor Company $7,000.00 A motion was made by Councilman McGee, seconded by Councilman Wilson to accept the low bid of the Kosterman Motor Company in the amount of $7,000.00. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. The Council proceeded in its budget workshop. Discussion was had on the word processer for the City Attorney office in the amount of approximately $9,000.00. After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Fisher, seconded by Councilman Francis approving the request for a word processer. The motion carried 5 ayes, 2 nays. Following discussion, concerning $50,000.00 proposed in the Revenue Sharing Fund for Streets and Highways, Mayor Graham appointed a Street Committee to review development of Streets and Highways Account in the Revenue Sharing Fund composed of Councilman McWaters, Councilman Williams, and Councilman Wilson. Discussion was had concerning the Afirmative Action Plan of the City of Paris and Mayor Graham appointed a Committee to review the Plan composed of Councilman Williams, Councilman Fisher, and Councilman Francis. After some Discussion concerning the Group Health & Life Insurance for the employees of the City, a motion was made by Councilman Fisher, seconded by Councilman McGee authorizing the advertisment of bids for Group Health and1 ife Insurance. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays.
