MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 26, 1982 <br />-4BL+ <br />The special meeting of the City Council of the City of Paris was <br />held, Wednesday, May 26, 1982, 6:00 P. M. Mayor Graham called the <br />meeting to order with the following Councilmen present: Donald G. <br />Wilson, Gene McWaters, Jr., Walter F. Williams, George Fisher, Jr. <br />W. C. Francis, and Larry McGee. Also present were City Manager R. W. <br />Sokoll, City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, H. C. Greene. <br />Mr. Jeff Methven Chairman of the Vistors and Convention Council of <br />the Chamber of Commerce appeared before the Council and gave a report <br />of the activities of the Council. Mr. Methven requested the City <br />Council to increase the Hotel -Motel Tax from 3% to 4% effective <br />July 1, 1982. After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman <br />McGee, seconded by Councilman McWaters authorizing the City Attorney <br />to prepare an Ordinance increasing the Hotel -Motel Tax to 4 %. The <br />motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Graham called for tablulation of bids for a pickup, and the <br />following bids were presented: <br />David Glass Motor Company, Inc. $7,118.64 <br />Lowry Chevrolet Inc. $7,124.00 <br />Kosterman Motor Company $7,000.00 <br />A motion was made by Councilman McGee, seconded by Councilman Wilson <br />to accept the low bid of the Kosterman Motor Company in the amount <br />of $7,000.00. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />The Council proceeded in its budget workshop. <br />Discussion was had on the word processer for the City Attorney office <br />in the amount of approximately $9,000.00. After discussion, a motion <br />was made by Councilman Fisher, seconded by Councilman Francis approving <br />the request for a word processer. The motion carried 5 ayes, 2 nays. <br />Following discussion, concerning $50,000.00 proposed in the Revenue <br />Sharing Fund for Streets and Highways, Mayor Graham appointed a Street <br />Committee to review development of Streets and Highways Account in <br />the Revenue Sharing Fund composed of Councilman McWaters, Councilman <br />Williams, and Councilman Wilson. <br />Discussion was had concerning the Afirmative Action Plan of the City <br />of Paris and Mayor Graham appointed a Committee to review the Plan <br />composed of Councilman Williams, Councilman Fisher, and Councilman <br />Francis. <br />After some Discussion concerning the Group Health & Life Insurance for <br />the employees of the City, a motion was made by Councilman Fisher, <br />seconded by Councilman McGee authorizing the advertisment of bids for <br />Group Health and1 ife Insurance. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
