�4 <br />PuiINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL 1VIEETIBG <br />July 14, 1979 <br />A special meeting of the City Council was held July 14, 1979 at 8:00. A.M. <br />City Council Chambers. Mayor Malone called the meeting to order with the <br />following Councii.men present' 8- J. Burnett, George Fisher, Jr.:, tialtee <br />F Williams, W. C. Francis, Ron *le, and Jim Farris. Also present were <br />City tionager, Robert U. Sokoll, and City Clerk, H.,C. Greene. <br />After the meeting was called to order the four County Commissioners and the <br />County Judge joined the City Council° <br />Mayor Nalone presented the Council and members of the Commissioners Court <br />with income statements, expense statements, and salary schedule for the <br />Emergency Medical Service established by Ordinance by the Council on July 9, <br />1979. Mayor Malone recommended that the Council authorize the advertisment <br />of bids for emergency equipment. A motion was made by Councilman Williams, <br />seconded by Councilman Burnett authorizing the advertising of bids for <br />emergency equipment. The motion carried 5 ayes, 2 nays. Councilman Farris, <br />and Councilman !Kyle voting nay. <br />Councilman Fisher speaking for the Committee appointed to study the ambulance <br />service made the committee's recommendation as follows: <br />"Ambulance committee recommends the proposed budget. Ambulance Committee <br />recommends Director's salary at $1,300.00, and the proposed salary system <br />including an Assistant Director. <br />Recommends the Director and Assistant Director be hired as soon as possible <br />to implement the program. <br />Recommends we contract to Lamar County to provide full service for a twelve <br />month contract period for the sum of $44,542.00." <br />A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman Williams <br />to approve the Committee's report and direct the City Attorney to prepare <br />a contract for full service with Lamar County. Before the vote was taken <br />Mr. Jim Patterson appeared before the Council stating that in his opinion <br />there was insufficent time to organize an ambulance service and questioned <br />the budgeted amount as proposed. <br />The question was called on the motion which showed 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />County Judge Brady Fisher stated that he felt that the McCuistion bid was a <br />good bid as opposed to the City establishing an ambulance service and stated <br />that he felt that the budget was inadequate as presented. <br />After discussion among the County Commissioners a motion was made by the <br />County Commissioners adopting the proposal passed by the City Council. <br />
