556 <br />Mayor Malone callr:i for tabulation of bids received for the purchase of <br />three new ambulances for the Emergency Medical Service, and the following <br />bids were presented: <br />Prestige Vehicles Inca $59,124.00 <br />Modular Ambulance Corp. $59,634.00 <br />Superior Southwest, Inc. $59,913.00 <br />Summers Ambulance & Coach Sales $61,179.23 <br />Summers, Inc. (Alternate bid) $57,300.00 <br />City Manager Sokoll recommended that the bid of Summers Ambulance & Coach <br />Sales in the amount of $61,179.23 be approved as the best bid. The Manager <br />advised the Council that this was the only bid which met the City of Paris <br />specifications. <br />Mr. Jesse Gooding, Director of the Emergency Medical Service appeared before <br />the Council and recommended the bid of Summers Ambulance & Coach Sales stating <br />that the Summers vehicle had safety feature of an all steel roof and that <br />the delivery dates were favorable. He further stated that the Summers firm <br />had advised that they would lend units to the City on September 1st in order <br />to meet the deadline on Ambulance Service of September 1, 1979. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman Williams to <br />approve the base bid of Summers Ambulance & Coach Sales in the amount of <br />$61,179.23 <br />Prior to the question, Mrs. Ruby Jacobs, representing Prestige Vehicles, <br />Inc., appeared before the Council stating that her firm could meet the <br />delivery date on one ambulance in 30 days, but would suppy three ambulances <br />for the City's operation by August 31st. <br />Mayor Malone called for the vote on the motion which showed 7 ayes, 0 nays <br />in favor of the motion. <br />Mayor Malone requested the consideration of the Council of an Ordinance <br />establishing ambulance rates. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2462 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS,BE AMENDED BY ADDING A SECTION TO BE NUMBERED <br />2 -51, PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AMBULANCE SERVICE RATES, REPEALING <br />ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CO €1FLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING <br />FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF SEPTEMBER 1, 1979. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded by Council- <br />man Fisher for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Farris, seconded by Councilman Francis to <br />pass item five on the agenda which was consideration of approval of the <br />Resolution authorizing execution of a contract to provide ambulance service <br />to Lamar County, and to proceed to item seven. The motion carried 7 ayes <br />0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone requested the consideration of the Council for adoption of a <br />Resolution authorizing condemnation of easements for E.D.A. Water Line <br />Project. <br />Resolution ado. 1955 authorizing condemnation proceedures on eleven tracts <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded by <br />Councilman Francis for adoption of the Resolution. The motion carried <br />7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
