MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />January 22, 1979 <br />The Special Council meeting of the City of Paris was held Monday, January 22, <br />1979 at 7:00 P. M. Mayor Malone called the meeting to order with the following <br />Councilmen present: B. J. Burnett, Walter F. Williams, David Philley, George <br />Fisher, Jr., Jim Farris, Raymond Wunsch. Also present were City Manager Sokoll, <br />City Clerk, H. C. Greene, and City Attorney, T. K. Haynes. <br />Mayor Malone announced that the Special Council meeting was called for the <br />purpose of reviewing and awarding bids for the installation of pumps and motors <br />at the Water Treatment Plant. <br />Mr: Carl Shimek of the Consulting Firm of Shimek, Jacobs,& Finklea, engaged . for <br />the preparation of .design and specifications for the pumps and motors and the <br />other necessary equipment, appeared before the Council and presented the follow- <br />ing tabulation of bids received at a bid opening Wednesday, January 17, 1979, <br />10:00 A. It. <br />Mechanical Services, Inca $174,165.00 <br />Power Builders 186,420.00 <br />Contract Builders 215,000.00 <br />Cole-- Smithen Construction Co. 265,775.00 <br />Mr. Shimek recommended that the low bid of the Mechanical Services, Inc. <br />headquartered at Atoka, Oklahoma in the amount of $174,165.00 be approved. <br />Mr. Shimek stated that he had called for and received and had reviewed the <br />financial statement of the firm and that they were financially capable of <br />executing thecontract. <br />After discussion Resolution No. 1916 authorizing and directing the City <br />Manager to execute a contract with Mechanical Services, Inc. for furnishing all <br />labor, material, and equipment and performing all work required for the installa- <br />tion of two high service pumps in the amount of $174,165.00 was presented. A <br />motion was made by Councilman Fisher, seconded by Councilman Farris for adoption <br />of the Resolution. Motion carried 6 ayes, 1 nay. Mayor Malone voting nay. <br />ti <br />
