A 7 ... <br />4 1"P <br />The City Attorney prevented information ccneerning the Junk Motor Vehicle <br />Ordinance and the need to amend it to comply with state law which came <br />into effect after our present Ordinance was adopted. Councilman Farris <br />made a motion to authorize preparation of an ordinance amending the <br />present Junk Motor Vehicle Ordinance. Councilman Burnett seconded the <br />motion which carried 7 ayes 0 nays. <br />City Manager Sokoll presented bids received for the painting of Central <br />Fire Station, one from Tommy Simmons for $7,000.00 and one from Johnny: <br />Gray for $2,500.00 which has since been withdrawn.. He stated the re- <br />maining bid was very much over the funds budgeted and recommended the <br />use of Fire Department personnel to do the painting In their spare time. <br />Councilman Williams made a motion to approve the City Managers re- <br />commendation. Mayor Malone seconded the motion which carried 6 ayes, <br />1 nay. Councilman Burnett voted nay. <br />Mayor Malone announced that the next item would be discussion of the <br />Ambulance Contract with McCuistion Hospital. A letter from the Board <br />of Governors of the Hospital was read stating they would discontinue <br />ambulance service at the-end of the contract period, August 31, 1979 <br />unless arrangements can to made to assure that the service will be a <br />breakeven proposition. City Manager Sokoll gave a report on the <br />financial picture as submitted by the hospital, which indicated a pro- <br />jected loss for the next years operation-of a substantial sum of money.. <br />Councilman Farris suggested a Committee to investigate the matter and <br />an audit to determine the areas of loss. Mayor Malone appointed a <br />committee of Councilman Fisher, Williams and himself to serve in the <br />matter. <br />City Manager Sokoll reported on the City /County Health Unit and his <br />meeting with the Lamar County Commissioners Court on the matter. He <br />submitted financial information from H.C. Greene, Director of Finance, <br />which indicated deficiencies in the amounts paid by the County as their <br />share of support for the Health Unit. He stated that, in some manner, <br />the agreement had worked out that the City contribute 60% and the County <br />40% to support the unit and the Counties payments have not been equal <br />to their 40% share. Councilman Farris made a motion that the City off- <br />icially request the Commissioners Court to contribute their agreed upon <br />share. Councilman Fisher seconded the motion which carried 7 ayes, 0 <br />nays. Mayor Malone then appointed Councilman Fisher, Williams and him- <br />self to a Committee to meet with the Commissioners Court in the matter. <br />
