�ir fy'� da <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1929 . <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is well aware <br />of the impact that Gene Stallings has had upon the local, state and <br />national sports scene that occurred due to the following accomplish- <br />ments: <br />Three Sport Letterman at Paris High School where he <br />received All District and State recognition and was a <br />member of the 1953 State Finalist Basketball Team <br />All Southwest Conference and Captain of the Team in <br />football at. Texas .A & M University <br />Assistant Football Coach under Paul "Bear" Bryant at <br />Texas A & M University and University of Alabama <br />Head Football Coach and Athletic. Director at Texas <br />A & M University where his team won the Southwest <br />Conference in 1967 and were Cotton Bowl Champions.. <br />January 1, 1968 <br />Member of Tom Landry's Dallas Cowboys Coaching <br />Staff as its Defensive Secondary Mentor since 1972 <br />with six playoff years, climaxed with three National <br />Football League Titles and one World Championship <br />Member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes with <br />extensive personal appearances- in furtherance of its <br />goals and ideals <br />AND, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City. of Paris deems <br />it right and proper that Gene Stallings be recognized in such -a way <br />that his contributions to sports will be preserved for posterity; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF PARIS, That Friday, April 27, 1979, be, and the same is <br />hereby proclaimed to be GENE STALLINGS APPRECIATION DAY <br />in the City of Paris, Texas. <br />Passed ' and adopted this 18th day of April, 1979. <br />is aeel�EM . alone, <br />Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />H.
