City Manager Sweatt reminded and advised the Council that in August, 1976, by Reso- lution No. 1768, application to FAA and TAC were authorized to receive FAA funding in the fiscal year 1976 in the amount of $154,659:00, and that Texas Aeronautics q Commission funding in the amount of $249914.00 was offered in October, 1976. The 1 2 manager further advised that FAA is now offering the second phase amount of $145,884.00 from fiscal year 1977 funding and requests that the City authorize grant acceptance. The manager stated that the funds would cover 95% of the construction cost of overlay and marking of the 4,500 original length of the north -south runway. Resolut;o, ^, No. 1797, authorizing the City of Paris to accept a grant offer from FA; providing for a commitment of $145,884.00 in federal funds, was presented. A mo- tion was made by Councilman Williams and seconded by Councilman Hinds for the adop- RESOLUTION NO. 1797 WHEREAS, the City of Paris did heretofore on the 23rd day of .March, 1977, make application for federal assistance to the Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, requesting federal participation in the cost of certain improvements at Cox Field Airport; and, WHEREAS, the FAA has issued a .Grant Offer which, if duly accepted, provides a commitment of $145, 884. 00 in federal funds for development specified therein; and, WHEREAS, it is determined to be in the best interest of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, to accept this Grant Offer; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TITE CITE.' OF PARIS, That the City of Paris does hereby accept the provisions of said Grant Offer, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein for all purposes. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City Manager, Kerry R. Sweatt, be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Grant Offer on behalf of the City of Paris.
