City Manager Sweatt requested authorization to advertise for bids for a two-year <br />period for a City depository, such bids to be received February 9, 1977, 10:00 A. M. <br />and presented to the City Council at its meeting on February 14, 1977. A motion was <br />made by Councilman Williams and seconded by.Councilman Fisher approving the request <br />of the city manager. The motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Sweatt advised the Council that a rate increase request had been re- <br />ceived from the Texas Power and Light Company. Mr. Hardy England, District Pianager <br />of Texas Power & Light Company, appeared before the Council, requesting the rate <br />increased and stating that there was a 34% average rate increase included in the <br />request. Mayor Brunette appointed a committee composed of Councilman Hinds, Coun- <br />cilman Williams, Councilman Stone and City Manager Sweatt to study the rate request <br />and make recommendation to the Council concerning same. <br />Resolution No. 1781, suspending the schedule of rates filed by Texas Power .& Light <br />Company, on the 22nd day of December, 1976, was presented. A motion was made by <br />Councilman Fisher and seconded by Councilman Stone for the adoption of the resolu- <br />tion. The motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1781 <br />WHEREAS, Texas Power. & Light Company did on December 22, <br />1976 file a rate request with the City of Paris; and, <br />WHEREAS, such request requires extensive study; and, <br />WHEREAS, the laws of the State of Texas require that the <br />City of Paris, acting as a regulatory authority, hold a hearing after <br />notice of a major change has been filed; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris may suspend the operation of the <br />schedule for a period not to exceed 120 days beyond the date on which <br />the schedule of rates would otherwise go into effect; NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF. THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, That the operation of the schedule of rates filed by Texas <br />Power & Light Company on the 22nd day of December, 1976, be, and <br />the same is hereby suspended. <br />Passed and adopted this 10th day of January, 1977. <br />Jam M.
