977 RESOLUTION NO. 9nn2_ 020 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, ACCEPTING A GRANT OF $44,165.83, WITHOUT REQUIREMENT FOR A MATCHING SHARE, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF PARIS POLICE DEPARTMENT TO FUND AN OFFENDER TRACKING TASK OFFICER FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE COMPREHENSIVE APPROACHES TO SEX OFFENDER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM, PURSUANT TO A GRANT FROM THE U. S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE TO THE LAMAR COUNTY COMMUNITY SUPERVISION CORRECTION DEPARTMENT; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Paris Police Department has been advised it is eligible to participate in a program funded by the U. S.- Department of Justice, such funds being granted to the Lamar County Community Supervision Correction Department, to pay the cost of the Comprehensive Approaches to Sex Offender Management Program; and, WHEREAS, by agreeing to participate in said program, the City of Paris will be eligible to receive $44,165.83, without the requirement for a matching share, to pay the cost of an offender tracking task officer in the City of Paris Police Department; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to participate in said program and fund said officer; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the City Manager, Chief of Police, and Director of Finance are hereby authorized to execute any and all documents necessary to the acceptance of a grant in the amount of $44,165.83 to fund an offender tracking task officer in the City of Paris Police Department as part of a Justice Department Grant to the Lamar County Community Supervision Correction Department for participation in the Comprehensive Approaches to Sex Offender Management Program. Section 3. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
