5 • <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2005 -005 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />TEXAS, AMENDING ARTICLE I TO CHAPTER 17, HEALTH, OF THE <br />CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TO ADD A NEW <br />SECTION 17 -6 THERETO ESTABLISHING A PERMIT FEE FOR <br />INSPECTING SEPTIC SYSTEMS AND SIMILAR SANITATION SYSTEMS <br />PERFORMED BY THE LAMAR COUNTY SANITARIAN; MAKING <br />OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; <br />AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris, in conjunction with Lamar County, jointly participate in the <br />operation of the Paris -Lamar County Health Department; and <br />WHEREAS, among other services provided by the Paris- Lamar CountyHealth Department, <br />are the services of a Lamar County Sanitarian to inspect septic systems and similar sanitation <br />systems, including performing percolation tests and the evaluation of said systems; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has determined there is a need to assess an enhanced fee for <br />the performance of such inspections and the issuance of a septic tank system permit for such systems <br />located within the city limits of the City of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS; <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br />Section 2. That Article I of Chapter 17, Health, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of <br />Paris, Texas, shall be and is hereby amended to include a new Section 17 -6 thereto establishing a <br />septic tank and similar sanitation system inspection fee, said Section 17 -6 to read as follows: <br />"Chapter 17. Health. <br />"Article I. In General. <br />"Section 17 -6. Inspection and Permit Fee for Septic Systems. <br />A fee of $250.00 shall be charged by the Lamar <br />County Sanitarian for the inspection of septic systems <br />
