000717 <br />allowed per year. Such sign shall not exceed 32 square feet, excluding torpedo signs as <br />provided herein. <br />(c) Existing businesses. For businesses which are existing at the time of the effective date of <br />this Section, such signage shall be permitted at a designated location on the lot, building, <br />canopy, or fascia wall and shall not exceed 32 square feet, excluding torpedo signs as <br />provided herein. <br />(d) Torpedo signs. <br />(1) Torpedo signs may be used as temporary sign-age-in accordance with subsections (al <br />1. and (c) hereof. Additionally, for new businesses a temporary permit not to <br />exceed one hundred eighty (180) days may be obtained upon issuance of a certificate <br />of occupancy to allow time for the design and installation of a permanent sign. <br />Torpedo signs in place in accordance with a validly issued and unexpired annual <br />permit shall be considered non - conforming signs and shall become subiect to this <br />section only upon the expiration of the Hermit. <br />(2) All torpedo signs which-are currently existing, whether under a current permit or not, <br />excluding to signs which are not otherwise in conformance with prior <br />provisions regulating such signs, may remain in place for a period of one (11 year <br />from the effective date of this subsection: thereafter, such signs must be brought into <br />compliance herewith. <br />(3) A torpedo sign may be converted to a permanent ground sign under the conditions set <br />forth in Section 28 -10.3. <br />COMMERCE: "Prohibited signs. (5) Permanent portable signs, twirling signs, <br />sandwich or "A" frame signs, sidewalk or curb signs, cloth, paper device, or other similar <br />advertising matter are prohibited. Temporary portable signs are permitted for no longer <br />than 30 consecutive days with a limit of three events each calendar year. Temporary <br />portable signs are not allowed for 30 days following an event." <br />CORSICANA: Portable signs not referenced in code. <br />DENISON: Portable signs not referenced in code. Article enclosed. <br />PITTSBURG: Does not allow portable signs and prohibits them from being converted to <br />permanent signs. "Sign, Portable: A sign which is not affixed to a structure or the ground <br />and is capable of being moved, including a sign mounted on a vehicle, trailer, or mobile <br />structure capable of being moved and primarily used for the purpose of advertising.
