Paris Public Library Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />January 21, 2015 <br />Opening: <br />The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order at 4:10 p.m. <br />Present: <br />Board members present were Connie Dodd, Denise Kornegay, Ann Norment, Rebecca Umphrey, <br />Carol James and director Priscilla McAnally. Amanda Green from the Friends of the Library was <br />also in attendance. Absent were Fran Neeley and Mike Pendleton. <br />I. Approval of Minutes <br />The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as presented. <br />II. New Business: <br />A. Paula Rater, Clerk II — Paula has been with the library for 13 years. Her duties <br />include circulation, book repair, processing, displays, and shelving children's <br />books. <br />B. Ron Hervey, Library Supervisor — Ron has been with the library for 16 years. He <br />started the computer system and now helps with computer needs for the staff and <br />patrons. He supervises staff and helps Priscilla wherever needed. He manages the <br />Library's Facebook account and the website. He has logged over 1,000 "helps" <br />with computer use in the library including Internet, email, Word, and e- books. He <br />also participates in a Writer's Group which meets monthly at the library. He <br />shared that Reavis Wortham will join them on March 28 for a writer's workshop. <br />III. Old Business: <br />None <br />IV. Presentations: <br />A. Budget Report. Priscilla reported that she has spent $55,000 in books already this <br />fiscal year. She is thankful for a generous budget which allows for many extra <br />services including Interlibrary Loan, a service that many libraries our size have <br />had to cut. <br />B. Statistical Report: There were significant increases in both circulation and library <br />visits over last year with a circulation increase of 14.75 %, and library visits <br />increased by 21.76 %. Many other statistics showed increases as well. <br />V. Friends of the Library: <br />Amanda Green from Friends of the Library reported the following: <br />A. There is increased traffic on the Friends Facebook page. <br />B. Friends are working with Sydney Young on a One Book/One Town event. <br />C. Library calendars and tote bags are available. <br />
