RESOLUTION NO. 2015 -021 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS; <br />APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR AN AUTOMOBILE BURGLARY & <br />THEFT PREVENTION AUTHORIZING GRANT FOR CONTINUATION OF <br />THE NORTHEAST TEXAS AUTO THEFT TASK FORCE; AUTHORIZING THE <br />EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR <br />ACCEPTANCE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID GRANT UPON NOTICE <br />THEREOF; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO <br />THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Automobile Theft Prevention Authority provides funding for <br />automobile theft prevention grants; and, <br />WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Texas Revised Civil Statutes Article <br />4413(37) and Texas Administrative Code Title 43; Part 3; Chapter 57, entities are eligible <br />to receive grants from the Automobile Burglary and Theft Prevention Authority to provide <br />financial support to law enforcement agencies for economic automobile theft enforcement <br />teams and to combat automobile burglary in the jurisdiction; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris desires to apply for an Automobile <br />Burglary & Theft Prevention Grant entitled "Northeast Texas Auto Theft Task Force" <br />project, the application being attached hereto as Exhibit "A" beginning September 1, 2015 <br />and ending August 31, 2016, in the amount of $145,194.00 including a cash match from the <br />city totaling $40,295.00 along with a $1,000.00 "in- kind" match in the 2015 -2016 Police <br />Budget, for continuation of our existing Auto Theft Task Force; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Texas has agreed that in the event of <br />loss or misuse of the grant funds, the City of Paris, Texas assures that the grant funds will <br />be returned in full to the Automobile Burglary and Theft Prevention Authority. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS, THAT: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby <br />in all things approved. <br />Section 2. The City Manager of the City of Paris, Texas is designated as the <br />Authorized Official to apply for, accept, decline, modify, or cancel the grant application for <br />the Automobile Burglary and Theft Prevention Authority Grant Program and all other <br />necessary documents to accept said grant. <br />Section 3. The Police Chief of Paris, Texas is designated as the Program Director <br />and the City Finance Director is designated as the Financial Officer for this grant. <br />
