Item No. 22 memorandum TO: Mayor & City Council John Godwin, City Manager FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT DATE: June 17, 2015 BACKGROUND: The Board of Adjustment is created by State Law and codified under Section 16 -100 of the City Zoning Ordinance. This Section states in part: "there is hereby created a Board of Adjustment consisting of five (5) members, each to be appointed by resolution of the City Council for a term of two years." The City Council may appoint two alternate members of the Board of Adjustment who shall serve in the absence of one or more of the regular members when requested to do so by the Mayor or City Manager. STATUS OF ISSUE: Board Members previously appointed to the Board of Adjustment, are as follows: Rick Hundley: as of May 1, 2015, has served 6 years and is term limited - vacant Charles Richards: 3 year term expires June 30, 2015 - vacant _Nathan "Quinton" Bell: 3 year term expires June 30, 2015 - vacant Marilyn Smith: 3 year term expires June 30, 2016, as of June 30, 2015 has served 4 years Jerry Haning: 3 year term expires June 30, 2016, as of June 30. 2015 has served 4 years Bryan Glass: - this board member no longer resides in the city - vacant. David Hamilton: 3 year term expires June 30, 2017, as of June 30, 2017 has served 2 years Applicants: Jerry Haning, Louise W. Hagood, Deanna R. Manning, and Anna Spencer BUDGET: N/A RECOMMENDATION: Appoint /re- appoint five regular members to the Board.
