Item No. 25
memorandum
TO: Mayor & City Council
FROM: John Godwin, City Manager
SUBJECT: LAND FOR REPLACEMENT EMS STATION
DATE: June 15, 2015
BACKGROUND: For at least three years we have discussed and looked for a site for a new
EMS station to serve the northwest quadrant of the county. The new station will replace the one
currently located inside the hospital. Relocation will allow us to move farther west, provide
better facilities for our staff, and still stay close to the loop for quick ingress and egress. The
council budgeted for land acquisition in the 2014 -15 budget, and discussed this matter in
executive session several months ago.
STATUS OF ISSUE: We have negotiated a price for purchase of the property previously
discussed, on 19th NW just above the loop. A survey has been completed of the site, so we now
need to proceed with the purchase, followed by platting of the property.
BUDGET: The $15,000 is well within budgeted funds.
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize acquisition of land, and execution of any and all closing
documents by the city manager.
