Item No. 12 <br />memorandum <br />TO: Mayor & City Council <br />John Godwin, City Manager <br />FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT TO THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />DATE: July 22, 2015 <br />BACKGROUND: Policies and Procedures for Boards, Commissions, and Committees adopted <br />by City Council allow for the appointment of a board member when a vacancy occurs. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: At the City Council meeting of July 13, 2015, a board member was <br />removed from the HPC, leaving a vacancy on the commission. We have two applications; one <br />from Anne Biard, who lives in the Historic District and the other individual is Chris Dux, who <br />does not live in the City but owns property in the Historic District. According to the ordinance <br />establishing the Historic Preservation Commission, both applicants are qualified to serve on the <br />commission. <br />BUDGET: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: Appoint one member to fill the vacant position on the HPC. <br />
