ORDINANCE NO. 2015 -018 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 5 -14, FEES OF CHAPTER 5 OF THE CITY CODE OF ORDINANCES; PROVIDING FOR AN INCREASE IN IMPOUNDMENT FEES FROM $20.00 PER HEAD TO $50.00 PER HEAD AND DAILY CARE AND STORAGE FEES FROM $5.00 PER DAY TO $10.00 PER DAY; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; PROVIDING A REPEALER CLAUSE, A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, A SAVINGS CLAUSE, A PENALTY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; WHEREAS, the Police Department Animal Control Division does not have the capability to impound and care for loose livestock. For a number of years we have used a local person to provide assistance in capturing loose livestock and holding them for disposition. This vendor has informed us of costs above and beyond the current amount as provided by ordinance. There is no revenue earned by the city as fees charged are paid directly to the vendor. WHEREAS, the Animal Control Division requests a change in the fee schedule to $50.00 per head for impoundment and $10.00 per day per head for care and feeding. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That Section 5 -14 Fees, of Chapter 5 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 5 -14. Same - Fees. "(a) The following shall be the fees charged as poundage for the impoundment of animals under section 5 -13: (1) For impounding livestock, per head ... $50.00 (2) For impounding dogs and cats, per head ... $15.00 (3) For care of livestock, per head, per day...$10.00 (4) For care of dogs and cats, per head, per day ... $3.00 (5) For quarantine of dogs and cats, for ten (10) days ... $50.00 (6) Additional cost for impounding, the actual cost expended.
