CQ -045 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF PARIS <br />August 13, 2007 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met for a regular session at 6:00 P. M. Monday, August <br />13, 2007, at the City Council Chamber, 107 E. Kaufman, Paris, Texas. <br />Present: Mayor: Jesse James Freelen <br />Council Members: Will Biard; Don Wilson; and. Bill Strathern, <br />Mayor Pro Tem <br />City Staff. Kent McIlyar, City Attorney; and Janice Ellis, <br />City Clerk <br />Absent: Council Members: Mary Ann Fisher; Kevin Gray; and Stephen <br />Brown <br />City Staff: Ernie Clark, Interim City Manager <br />1. Mayor Freelen called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m. <br />Gene Anderson gave the invocation. <br />2. Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Council Member Strathern led the pledge. <br />A Motion to move to item 12. was made by Council Member Biard and seconded by Council <br />Member Strathern. Motion carried, 4 ayes - 0 nays. <br />12. Citizens Forum. `- <br />Billy Bell, 2054 Cleveland - spoke about the city manager's salary and benefits. He also <br />stated he did not think the City should have to pay Jim Bell's legal fees. <br />Marva Joe, 1610 -17th N.E. - stated that the city manager's contract should have a provision <br />allowing him a public hearing should he be terminated, as outlined in the new City Charter. <br />Charles Richards - pointed out that the new city manager was in the building. <br />Mayor Freelen moved to item 3. <br />3. Receipt of report from the Planning & Zoning Commission. <br />k <br />
