Mayor Fendley said they <br />were waiting for more responses. <br />The Council took a five minute break at 7:31 P.M. and reconvened at 7:36 P.M. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2004-003 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF <br />THE CITY OF PARIS BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTION 26 -1 OF <br />SAID CODE TO AUTHORIZE THE STAFFING LEVELS OF THE POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF <br />ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND DECLARING AN <br />EFFECTIVE, WAS READ. <br />City Manager Malone explained this would eliminate 2 police private positions. <br />Councilman Bell made a motion to adopt the ordinance, which was seconded by <br />Councilwoman Neeley. The ordinance passed 6 ayes to 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2004-004 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,_ <br />PARIS, TEXAS, ADOPTING A NEW SECTION 26 -9 TO ARTICLE I, <br />CHAPTER 26 OF THE _CODE OF ORDINANCES, ENTITLED SENIORITY <br />PAY; ESTABLISHING THEREBY A PROGRAM OF SENIORITY PAY <br />WITHIN THE PARIS POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR CERTIFIED POLICE <br />OFFICERS BELOW THE RANK OF CHIEF BASED ON YEARS IN <br />SERVICE AND RANK ACHIEVED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION <br />0143.041 (c) 1 OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE; MAKING OTHER <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND <br />DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE, WAS READ. <br />A motion was made by Councilwoman Neeley, seconded by Councilman Bell, <br />for approval of the ordinance. The motion carried 6 ayes to 0 nays. <br />Resolution 2004 -001, affirming that the city of Paris -has complied with the <br />requirements of the Public Funds Investment Act; amending the city's <br />Investment Policy; making other findings and provisions related to the subject; <br />and proving an effective date, was read. <br />Councilman Bell asked what was being amended. Director of Finance, Gene, <br />Anderson, indicated that the amendments were minor and involved some <br />account numbers; but that the Council had to vote on it every year. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Guest and seconded by Councilman <br />Weekly.
