401 RESOLUTION NO. 2004 -008 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,. PARIS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF SELF - CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUSES (SCBA) FOR USE IN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 23rd day of September, 2003, in Ordinance No. 2003 -043, authorize the purchase of additional thermal imaging cameras for use in the Fire Department; and, WHEREAS, the Fire Department is additionally in need of purchasing Self- Contained Breathing Apparatuses (SCBAs); however, the City was not awarded a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant for which it had applied for the purpose of purchasing the SCBAs; and, WHEREAS, the Fire Chief has determined that the purchase of SCBAs is of higher priority than the purchase of additional thermal imaging cameras, and the City Manager has approved the inter - department line item transfer of funds; and, WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that the purchase of said equipment be approved and that the same be authorized for advertisement for bids; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the Fire Chief be, and he is hereby, authorized to prepare plans and specifications for the receipt of bids and purchase of Self - Contained Breathing Apparatuses (SCBAs). Section 3. That such purchase of equipment be advertised for bids to be received after due notice at the office of the City Manager of the City of Paris, City Hall, 135 lst Street S.E., Paris, Texas 75460, on such date and time as the City Manager may direct, at which time said bids will be opened in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 135 1st Street S.E., Paris, Lamar County, Texas, and bids will thereafter be tabulated and presented to the City Council for the purpose of letting such bid. Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
