30f <br />Manning, to award the bid to Northside Ford in the amount of $15,074.98 for <br />furnishing and delivery of (1) new 2001 One -Half Ton Pickup for use by the <br />Paris Police Department. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2001 -001, resolving that a state of disaster is hereby in all things <br />confirmed, ratified, and declared for the City of Paris, Texas, in accordance with <br />prior proclamations of the Mayor of the City of Paris, and pursuant to action <br />taken by the City Council this date, said state of disaster to be declared <br />beginning December 25, 2000, and continuing until such time as the disaster is <br />abated, and that the City's Emergency Management Plan, including the <br />activation of the recovery and rehabilitation aspects of all applicable local or <br />inter jurisdictions emergency management plans, and authorization for the <br />furnishing of aid and assistance, is hereby in all things implemented and <br />activated, was presented. <br />City Manager Malone advised the City Council that the County Government has <br />made an application and the City has participated in that as well, and it is the <br />responsibility of the Chief Elected Official or the Lamar County Judge to turn <br />that in, which was done last Friday. City Manager Malone said the city's part <br />of that, under public assistance debris removal, the city has given an <br />preliminary estimate of $1,184,122.00, noting the estimated expense of <br />$768,00.00 in emergency calls for Fire and EMS, estimated $105,000.00 <br />damage to the streets of the city, estimated losses of $47,497.00 for the public <br />utility system, and $48,646.00 for other losses with a total of $1,391,945.00. <br />City Manager Malone said the city did not include in the application any of the <br />loses by Paris Jr. College or any of the School Districts in the city. The County <br />Judge included that in his application. He said that he visited with officials from <br />FEMA today and they are doing their preliminary damage assessment. City <br />Manager Malone further advised the City Council that all of the City's <br />departments that were involved in losses to give us their calculations on <br />overtime, loss of facilities, and cost of debris removal. The City Manager said <br />these estimates have been forwarded on to the state, and it may be possible to <br />hear something by the end of the week or next week. <br />After further discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Bell, seconded by <br />Councilman Carter, for approval of the resolution. The motion carried 7 ayes, <br />0 nays. <br />
