795 RESOLUTION NO. 2000 -002 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AMENDING PRIOR RESOLUTION NO. 99 -141, WHICH APPROVED AND AUTHORIZED A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION, THROUGH THE ARK -TEX COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS, FOR A VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $78, 594.00, WITH THE CITY OF PARIS PROVIDING $26,780.00 IN THE FORM OF 1N -KIND SERVICES, TO INCLUDE A COMMITMENT BY THE CITY OF PARIS TO RETURN ANY GRANT FUNDS LOST OR MISUSED; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, through the Ark -Tex Council of Governments, provides funding for "Violence Against Women Act' Grants; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a grant application for a "Violent Crimes Against Women Unit Project' Grant at a total cost of $105,374.00 with $78,594.00 to be provided by grant and $26,780.00 to be provided by the City of Paris in the form of in -kind services; and, WHEREAS, the City Council has previously adopted Resolution No. 99 -141 authorizing application for the aforesaid grant; and, WHEREAS, the City has been advised by the Ark -Tex Council of Governments of the need to include a commitment on the part of the City to return any grant funds lost or misused; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to adopt a resolution amending prior Resolution No. 99 -141 to commit to the return of such funds in the event of loss or misuse; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble of this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That prior Resolution No. 99 -141, previously adopted December 9, 1999, which authorized application to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, through the Ark -Tex Council of Governments, for a "Violence Against Women Act' Grant in the amount of $78,594.00, being approximately 75% of the estimated cost of the "Violent Crimes Against Women Unit Project," with the City of Paris providing $26,780.00 in the form of in -kind services, shall be and is hereby amended and the City Council of the City of Paris does hereby assure the Criminal Justice Division that in the event of loss or misuse of grant funds, such finds will be returned to the Criminal Justice Division in full.
