the Think Child Safety Program. Three service programs that will be <br />shown on television was shown to the Council. At this time Mr. Burgin <br />called for the students to come forward and introduced Quincy Blount, <br />Valeria Johnson, and Melanie Taubert. Each student gave a presentation <br />regarding teaching of the Think Child Safety Programs, and requested <br />that the City of Paris proclaim the week of May 14, 1995, thru May 25, <br />1995 as "Think Child Safety" Week. Mr. Don Stuckey representing <br />Campbell Soup was present telling the Council that they were proud to <br />be partners with "Think Child Safety ". Mr. Stuckey told the Council <br />that Campbell had sponsored a poster contest for all of the Lamar <br />County School System and it was a very good success, they promoted <br />safety to and from school, and had almost 5,000 kids participating in <br />the program. <br />Mr. Burgin pointed out that Think Child Safety was here to stay and in <br />1994 there was not a death caused by injury, and felt that this program <br />was a great factor in this. Mr. Burgin introduced Stewart Dodson who <br />started this program. Mr. Dodson said that this program has continued <br />to grow, and hoped that some day it would be nationwide. <br />Mayor Shelton read a proclamation proclaiming the week of May 14, 1995 <br />thru May 25, 1995 as "Think Child Safety" Week presenting the <br />proclamation to Mr. Stewart Dodson. <br />City Manager Malone called for consideration of and action on <br />authorizing the preparation of an ordinance amending Section 7 -47 of <br />the Code of Ordinance providing that the reference to Director of <br />Community Development be changed to Chief Building Official. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Clifford, seconded by Councilman <br />Fulbright authorizing the preparation of an ordinance amending Section <br />7 -47 of the Code of Ordinance providing that the reference to Director <br />of Community Development be changed to Chief Building Official. The <br />motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 95 -001 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY THE ZONING MAP <br />OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING A COMMERCIAL DISTRICT (C) ON LOT 1F -A, CITY <br />BLOCK 306, ON PROPERTY BELONGING TO W. A. HARRIS, SO AS TO INCLUDE <br />THEREIN TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A COMMERCIAL DISTRICT (C) and <br />specific use permit - BILLBOARD SIGN (52); AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES <br />OF THE COMMERCIAL DISTRICT (C) SO ESTABLISHED: PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY <br />NOT TO EXCEED $2,000.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF <br />ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF <br />FEBRUARY 1, 1995 <br />was presented.
