875 <br />City Manager Malone called for consideration of and action on <br />authorizing a project for drainage at 6th Street S. E. and Fort Street <br />to be funded by the Certificates of Obligation, Series 1993. City <br />Manager explained that there has been a request by a citizen for a <br />drainage project at this location. This is property that is just South <br />of the Pathology Clinic across from the Probation Department is <br />located. City Manager Malone told the Council that water comes from <br />the East down Fort Street, and comes from the North down 6th Street S. <br />E., jumps the curb, goes under a house, down the driveway and through <br />the backyard. <br />City Manager Malone said there was also a project in the 200 block to <br />300 Block of 33rd Street S. E., part of our summer program this summer <br />is to do work on Margaret Street, and Mr. Huddleston has been utilizing <br />funds that is currently budget to do replacement curb and gutter work <br />on Margaret Street, with residents that have already paid originally, <br />but on 33rd Street on these two corner lots there is a section that is <br />without curb and gutter, and it causes maintenance problems for the <br />city. <br />City Manager Malone advised the Council that on the 6th Street Drainage <br />Project, the cost estimate is $81,120.00, and the cost estimate for <br />the curb and gutter project on 33rd S. E. is $26,575.00. <br />City Engineer, Earl Smith, came forward telling the Council this is a <br />local type project that will solve the problem that exist right in this <br />specific area, and it is in compliance with the Master Drainage Plan. <br />Mr. Smith advised that to his knowledge Ms. Shonebarger has never had <br />water in her home; however, her house is an old house, sets up off the <br />ground 4 or 5 inches, and if it wasn't for that it probably would get <br />water in her house. Mr. Smith said that water gets inside her car, and <br />she has had to made repairs to her house on several occasions, replaced <br />her driveway several times, and the neighbor have similar problems. <br />
