<br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
<br />March 10, 1994 -
<br />The City Council of the City of Paris met in regular session, Thursday,
<br />March 10, 1994, 6:00 P. M., City Hall, City Council Chambers, Paris,
<br />Texas. Mayor George Fisher called the meeting to order with the
<br />following Councilmembers present: Don Shelton, Jim Bell, and Millie
<br />Ingram McDonald. Also present was City Manager Michael E. Malone, City
<br />Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, Mattie Cunningham.
<br />Invocation was given by Reverend William Smith, of Bible Baptist Temple
<br />Church.
<br />A motion was made by Councilman Jim Bell to move Agenda Item No. 20,
<br />receipt of petition from property owners opposing the change in zoning
<br />at 3375, 3395, and 34254 Clarksville Street, being Lots 24, 26, and 27,
<br />City Block 312, from a One Family Dwelling District No. 2 (SF -2) to
<br />Planned Development Housing District (PD -b), and Agenda Item No. 21,
<br />consideration of and action on authorizing the preparation of an
<br />ordinance amending Zoning Ordinance No. 1710 changing the zoning from a
<br />One Family Dwelling District No. 2 (SF -2) to a Planned Development
<br />Housing District (PD -b) on Lots 24, 26, and 27, City Block 312 located
<br />at 3375, 3395, and 2425 Clarksville Street forward. The motion was
<br />seconded by Councilwoman McDonald and carried 4 ayes, 0 nays.
<br />A motion was made by Councilman Jim Bell, seconded by Councilwoman
<br />McDonald to receive the petition from property owners opposing the
<br />change in zoning at 3375, 3395, and 3425 Clarksville. The motion
<br />carried 4 ayes, 0 nays.
<br />City Manager Malone called for consideration of and action on
<br />authorizing the preparation of an ordinance amending Zoning Ordinance
<br />No. 1710 changing the zoning from a One Family Dwelling District No. 2
<br />(SF -2) to a Planned Development Housing District (PD -b) on Lots 24, 26,
<br />and 27, City Block 312 located at 3375, 3395, and 2425 Clarksville
<br />Street, and advised that this item was tabled at the February 10, 1994
<br />meeting, and should the Council wish to consider this matter tonight, a
<br />motion to bring this item from the table is required.
<br />Councilman Jim Bell advised that information has been sent to the City
<br />Manager regarding this matter, but he did not feel it was appropriate
<br />to bring this item from the table at this time.
<br />No action was taken on the above matter.
<br />Mayor Fisher declared the public hearing open on the petition of Ken
<br />Coffey for a change in zoning from a Two Family Dwelling District (2F)
<br />to a Commercial District (C) on Lots 3 and 3 -A, City Block 227 -E
<br />located at 1933 and 1943 Pine Bluff Street.
<br />Mayor Fisher called for proponents to appear, and Mr. Ken Coffey
<br />appeared in behalf of his petition. Mr. Coffey told the Council that
<br />he proposed to construct a 40' x 80' metal building to house his
<br />appliance repair and automotive air conditioning repair business. Mr.
