<br />RESOLUTION NO. 93 -016
<br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, DID HERETOFORE ON
<br />THE 4th DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1993, PASS RESOLUTION NO. 93 -015,
<br />CALLING THE ELECTION FOR COUNCILMEN FOR DISTRICTS 4, 5 AND 7;
<br />AND,
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is now
<br />desirous of amending said Resolution in order to include in
<br />said election the opportunity for citizens of Paris to vote
<br />for or against an additional one - fourth (1/4) of one percent
<br />(1 %) Sales and Use Tax for the benefit of a corporation to
<br />carry out industrial development programs, and voting for or
<br />against an additional one - fourth (1/4) of one percent (1 %)
<br />Sales and Use Tax to reduce the property tax rate; NOW,
<br />THEREFORE,
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
<br />that Resolution No. 93 -015, be, and the same is hereby
<br />amended to read as follows:
<br />"A RESOLUTION ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE
<br />FIRST SATURDAY IN MAY, 1993, SAME BEING THE 1ST DAY OF MAY,
<br />1993, BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 7:00 O'CLOCK A.M. AND 7:00 O'CLOCK
<br />P.M., BY THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF DISTRICTS 4, 5 AND 7 TO
<br />ELECT COUNCILMEN FROM EACH OF SAID DISTRICTS TO SERVE AS
<br />MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE ENSUING TWO YEARS, AND BY
<br />THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF ALL SEVEN DISTRICTS TO ADOPT AN
<br />ADDITIONAL ONE- FOURTH (1/4) OF ONE PERCENT (1 %) SALES AND USE
<br />TAX FOR THE BENEFIT OF A CORPORATION TO CARRY OUT INDUSTRIAL
<br />DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS, AND TO ADOPT AN ADDITIONAL ONE- FOURTH
<br />(1/4) OF ONE PERCENT (1 %) SALES AND USE TAX TO BE USED TO
<br />REDUCE THE PROPERTY TAX RATE, WITH ABSENTEE VOTING FOR THE
<br />SAME BEING CONDUCTED IN THE CITY HALL ANNEX WEST, FROM THE
<br />12TH DAY OF APRIL, 1993, THROUGH THE 27TH OF APRIL, 1993,
<br />MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:00 O'CLOCK A.M.
<br />AND 5:00 O'CLOCK P.M.
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
<br />Section 1. That an election be held by the qualified
<br />voters of Districts 4, 5 and 7 of the City of Paris, Paris,
<br />Texas, on the first Saturday in May, 1993, same being the lst
<br />day of May, 1993, between the hours of 7:00 o'clock A.M. and
<br />7:00 o'clock P.M., for the purpose of electing three (3)
<br />members of the City Council of the City of Paris for two year
<br />terms, as follows:
<br />One Councilman from District Four (4)
<br />One Councilman from District Five (5)
<br />One Councilman from District Seven (7)
<br />and by the qualified voters of all seven (7) districts of the
<br />City of Paris, Paris, Texas for the purpose of affording said
<br />voters an opportunity to vote for or against an additional
<br />one - fourth (1/4) of one percent (1 %) Sales and Use Tax for
<br />the benefit of a corporation to carry out industrial
<br />development programs, and an additional one- fourth (1/4) of
<br />one percent (1 %) Sales and Use Tax to reduce the property tax
<br />rate, as provided in Paragraphs 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 of Order
<br />entered March 15, 1976, in Civil Action No. P- 75 -3 -CA, in the
<br />District Court of the United States for the Eastern District
<br />of Texas, Paris Division, and as provided in the Charter of
<br />the City of Paris and the laws of the State of Texas wherein
<br />they do not conflict with said Order.
